What is a door lock knob?
Locking the knob prevents the latch from being disengaged from the outside without a key. The inside portion of the knob has a thumb turn to lock and unlock the door.
What is the hole on the side of a door knob for?
The Bore hole is the large diameter hole where the door knob is mounted. The standard sized bore hole is 2 1/8″ in diameter. Through the edge of the door there is a 1″ cross bore that extends from the edge of the door through the bore hole. This cross bore is where the latch is installed.
What is a Latchbolt?
simple latch. A spring bolt, one edge of which is beveled; when the door or window to which it is attached is closed, the bolt is forced inward; when in the fully closed position, the bolt springs back into a fixed notch or cavity.
Can you turn a regular door knob into a dummy door knob?
Yes you can use it as your dummy handles. Thats what we used for our closet doors, instead of buying dummy handles. Just use the front and back of the handles, and leave out the latch. The only thing is that the handle will still turn, even without the latch, but it doesn’t bother us.
