What causes a door to slam?
There are many reasons as to why a door can slam. The most obvious one is if someone slams it, which then causes the door to make a loud noise – unpleasant! Other times, a door may slam by mistake whilst closing it. Even if you close a door softly, if there’s a strong air current, it may cause the door to slam shut.

According to popular belief, “Door slamming” occurs when an INFJ cuts someone completely out of their life without warning. They “purge” the person from their existence and avoid them at all costs. According to some writers, the INFJ does this with more frequency and severity than other types.
How do you stop a door from opening all the way?
Here are some excellent ways to stop a door from opening fully:
- Use an improvised stop.
- Get a decorative stop.
- Install a hook or magnet stop.
- Install a door closer with a hold-open feature.
- Bend the pin in the door hinge.
How do you deal with a door slammer?
If you have a door slammer in your house, all you need to do is head to the hardware store and buy a package of those little felt pads that are used to protect surfaces from getting marked up. Then you simply add them to the strike plate or on opposite corners of the door jamb.
Why does my storm door slam shut?
If your door is slamming, it could mean that the closer’s pin needs to be adjusted. There is a row of holes that you can use to adjust the position of the closer. Adjust the closer’s mounting position by moving it to another hole and test out the door.
